EXCEPT Aruba? Now that's not fair!

Well...although I say I have no desire to go to Hawaii because of the LONG flight, I would have to say that if I decided to, I would head there for 2 weeks and break it up on the way there and the way back by stopping in Vegas.

Exclamation tropical?????

Not tropical enough?

Please tell me it is, it looks absolutely gorgeous and tropical, what part of it cannot be? and as opposed to where? We are travelling from the UK and it will be our first trip to the caribbean (July 08). We looked at numerous caribbean islands and eventually narrowed it down to barbados and aruba (choose aruba as much less rain) discounted dom rep and jamaica immediately as my idea of a holiday is not going out with an armed guard (sorry dom rep and jamaica fans) Looked at bahamas but most all inclusive hotels would not allow children under 14

If I had to go somewhere OTHER than Aruba, it would be either St John USVI or the BVI's. St. John is very lush and tropical, and 75% is national park. 58 beaches, and only 2 resorts that are on the beach - the rest is unspoiled and protected. And its a place that only tank tops and flip flops are required.

with that said, I've yet to see Aruba - March 08 will be my first trip. Staying 7 nights at the Tam, and only plan on bringing a carry-on. If anything other than shorts, tanks, and flip flops are required, I won't be returning to Aruba (and which is why I have no desire to see Bermuda )

the sun and the sand, and a drink in my hand...

Not lush and green and there are no rainforests in Aruba. BUT the beautiful sugary powder white sand beaches and gorgeous turquoise waters more than make up for that.

I'm a casual gal, and love Aruba. Being able to be casual when I want to be is a huge plus to me. St. John is very different from Aruba...no lush greenery. Arubalisa said it best - the beach and water makes up for it!

I hear your point on Bermuda....it is beautiful though. We went there on a cruise 3 years ago out of Boston. Very formal when you get off of the ship. We took a bus to the beach and could not get back on the bus until we had every ounce of sand off of our bodies, and we had to be dressed properly. My son tried to get on without a shirt - not allowed.

Every time I go to Aruba I stay 1-2 days longer.

My first trip was 6 days. This year I'm staying for 15.

Once you achieve Aruba serenity , you'll see that coming back home becomes more and more difficult.

Enjoy your stay.

Does anyone know if I can make reservations at the Red Parrot before I get there so I dont have to wait a couple days to get in?

Not that I mind Sandwiches and Pizza once in a while but is not something I typically eat when on vacation.

Bartender! - Another round for me and the lady please
