i was wondering if anyone has rented a suzuki jimny 4x4? my wife and i are visiting and we were hoping to see some of the out of the way places. since it is just the two of us, we don't need more capacity than that. has anyone rented one? are they too small? safe? underpowered? we have a reservation with advantage aruba rental car. has anyone used them?

We rented one in January. It was fine for touring the "rough" side of the island. In fact, it was quite comfortable for 4 of us. At times the a/c was very welcomed.

yeah thats what we did a lot less $ than a "jeep". No problemo in the sand very good actually as the jeep just less ground clearance which really didn't matter. The width of the vehicle is less than the jeep- we got turned around one nite downtown and headed in to the bus terminal a no-no there are big open "pits" in the middle of the road leading into the treminal area my bros jeep just managed to keep both tires strattling the pit, my suzuki jimney wouldn't make it and had to drive up on the curb I don't know how deep they were or what they were for but I wasn't going to get stuck or damage the rental after a couple of beers.

Anyway back to the jimney it did fine on the sand we had two kids w us and a dive/beach bag in the back. Plenty of room got the hard top auto ac wish the radio worked better -you might want to let them know that for example, I WANT ONE WITH A GOOD RADIO, OK? LIKE WHEN I GET THERE ON TUE. DON"T BRING ONE THAT HAS A BROKEN.... Left them know in advance in other words what is important etc
Another good place to drive off roads is down by Baby Beach near the prison big dunes

My wife and I used one last August...We took it off-roading..let's say I would not buy one for that purpose..It was decent for local driving and below average for off-roading. Fortunately, there aren't many obstacles in the desert which makes it acceptable.
