AA strikes again

Here I am looking forward to my vacation in Aruba. I've got 9 more days to go and it's the only thing I can think about. Till this evening when I got an email from American Airlines that the time of the first leg of my trip has been delayed by 20 minutes - enough so that we cannot make the connecting flight in San Juan that would get us to Aruba by 1:30, plenty of time to hit the beach. Gool ole AA put us on a flight at 6PM from San Juan getting us into Aruba at 8:15. Oh, and scattered my children around the plane. I've heard all sorts of complaints about AA on this board. I, foolishly, was always one of the ones defending them. Well, when it happens to you, your perspective is a lot different, isn't it now? ai yi yi.

Re: AA strikes again

well i travel AA all the time and yes you will get these types of problems with them especially if you fly from friday saturday or sunday..those are the busiest days for them obviously and if they want to hurt anyone with their demands for raises etc then those are the days we would suffer as their customers. so in closing i try not to fly AA on those days and have seen less issues. also, they have plenty of mechanical issues where they cancelled my flight altogether

Re: AA strikes again

Yes Delta goes to Aruba. I flew them last year and it was smooth sailing. No changes or delays. American is the worst . I've had terrible experiences with them and won't fly them again. Besides they are more expensive and in my opinion less reliable.

Re: AA strikes again

I do think Delta flies to Aruba. and Continental, as well. I used United last year when my American flight was canceled due to Hurrican Katrina. I'll be switching to United after this fiasco. The flight that was canceled was changed to a smaller plane. I suspect they didn't fill that particular flight and gave us a small plane. Just a thought. I'll never know exactly why it was canceled. But I do know I'll be looking into a United flight next time!!
Hey, Suzi, when do you leave? I leave Apr 7.

Re: AA strikes again

I think all airlines do this. I am booked on a direct flight to and from Aruba out of Boston in November and I am hoping that since both flights are already pretty full that the flights will stay the same, but one can never know!
