I know this has been brought up before, but I need a memory refresher.

My husband and I are traveling to Aruba in September, from Boston. Hoping to catch an airfare sale sometime over the next few months. Does American or any other airline typically run a sale in the spring for autumn travel? Also, how far ahead do folks typically book flights? If I wait until the summer to book, am I cutting it too close?

I've never booked a flight on my own before, so I'd appreciate feedback from those who have experience with this. Thanks for your help.

American might have a sale in april for the late summer months. However, don't count on the flights you book ever happening as they are messing everything up. you might plan a 7 AM flight and it will be changed to a 4 PM flight. American is heading for bigger financial trouble if they keep it up.

The airfare sale is usually between may to July for the fall/winter season.

I agree with Gary - we usually get good deals in June
