I have been reading that travelers are receiving vouchers if the airfare goes down.
Do all airlines issue vouchers? Our experience 3 years ago with Delta was very different. Even though we were told at the airport where we booked that vouchers would be issued if the price went down(and at the time the fair was $925 each) that didn't happen and we had to pay full fare that we originally booked at
AA will return the difference in the original
form of payment for international flights only! (NON-STOP to and from Aruba) If you end up with a stop over in ANY
part of the UNITED STATES your flight is now not considered an international flight and you will not be entilted to any type of refund or voucher.
you have to call and ask for the voucher when the price goes down. If the price goes down today, and back up tomorrow.. You then would miss out on the voucher.. They don't automatically give you a voucher.. You have to ask for it when the price is lower..
Of course, each airline deals with such vouchers in their own way. However, common to all ... YOU have to track the fares and contact the airline. Airlines do not do it "automatically" ...
This past Feb. when we went to Aruba I was keeping my eye on the fare. I noticed that it did go down and I called Contential and they did give me a voucher for $100.00 which I used a couple of months later to fly to Florida.
I have always used United for years and have always received vouchers for the fare going down. Just this month I went to Aruba and I got $277.00 each for me and my husband to use next year to Aruba. 4 vouchers were waitng for me when I got home. Just keep checking the fare and when it goes just call.
Earlier this year we received a refund (credited directly to our credit card) for the difference in airfare from AA. It was NOT a direct non-stop to Aruba. We had to change planes in Miami. This does not happen automatically. We followed the prices and called AA. They were very nice about it.
