Airport

I would like see more updates on delays/crowds departing from the Airport.

In Oct 2006 departing on weekend it did take over 2 hours for the first time ever. If 3 hours is now needed more comments on this should be posted but without all the drama, just firm details to assist many of us who go there every year. The new baggage carasels are of interest if installed since last October. We arrive Oct 21st and leave Sunday, November 4th and monitor this site for important stuff like the airport. We have four other cpls traveling with us and arriving and departing on different dates, many thier first time so I want to keep them there on time. Thanks, Greg & Susan

IMHO, yes you need to give yourself 3 hours on a weekend. Just to be on the safe side. There are still going to be days when it will not take you that long.

I just returned from my 9th trip at the beginning of August and the baggage carousels were still in the same place they have always been, not revamped, moved, etc. due to airport construction.

Left Aruba on Sunday morning, but it was an EARLY flight (8 am), so no problem with it taking so long due to long lines. However, ticket counter people didn't seem to get there until around 6:30 or so and after checking in there, you had to stand outside for another 45 minutes or so getting eaten alive by mosquitos until the other building opened. Then, after getting through that, we had to wait in line until the baggage claim room opened (that was about another 1/2 hour).

My choice in the future is NEVER to take any early flight like that again from ANYWHERE...just too much standing around and waiting, but traveled on afternoon flights, again on Sunday, and never had much of a problem...surely never took the 3 hours as some have stated.

We were there a couple of years ago over spring break, and the lines were LONG during both arrival and departure. I would guess it took us a good couple of hours to get to the gate the day we left.

However, this past summer, when we were in Aruba, we got to the airport three hours ahead of time for departure, as recommended. We sat at the gate for 2 1/2 hours waiting for our flight. Huge difference!

We're gluttons for punishment (Aruba is worth it!), and we'll be going back for a spring break trip in 2008, with a Saturday departure....
