ALHAMBRA casino renovations/employee payraise
(my commentary........i am glad SOMEONE is getting a raise in this pitiful economy)
from AMIGOE 9 percent salary increase for employees Alhambra 3 Dec, 2010, 10:08 (GMT -04:00) Email dit artikel Print dit artikel ORANJESTAD — After lengthy negotiations, the management of the Alhambra Casino and trade union FTA reached an agreement this morning on a collective wage agreement (cao) for the casino employees. It was also announced that the casino would be renovating for an amount of 4 million dollars. Concretely the employees will receive an approximate 9-percent salary increase in the next three years. “Of course, one always wants to get more out of a cao,” says Rudy Geerman, chairman of the trade union FTA. “However, this was all we could get due to the difficult economical situation.” Geerman says there are always employees who find one could have gotten more from the negotiations, but he is satisfied with the result. That there were possibilities – despite these hard times – Geerman illustrates by stating that the casino will be investing in the future. He explains that the casino will be busy with a facelift and some other adjustments during the next one and a half year. “Despite this large investment, there was still financial room to offer the employees an increase.” Operational manager of the casino, Jerry Amato says that the rebuilding and renovation will cost approximately 4 million dollars. The result is to give the casino a new face that fits better with the other buildings of the Divi hotel chain, to which the casino belongs. Moreover, the rebuilding will probably yield several new jobs. “There will be more space for new gambling machines and gaming tables by removing the Alladin Theater. This will create approximately nine jobs with two executive functions.” |
