Allegro

Hate to tell you folks, but I was staying at the Wyndham last week and walked down to Allegro--There is no way that the place will be ready to go by December(Maybe December of
2006)--Very disappointing--as I have a timeshare there--Make sure you double check before going--Good Luck

Re: Allegro

jen the hotel (allergo occidental)has stated in THEIR WEB SITE that they are having a soft opening dec.1 2005 and their grand opening dec.15 2005 WHY would they go out on the limb making such a statement if it was not true? i also have a timeshare and have reservations for feb. and NO ONE has contacted me that they will not be open. seems to me their are a lot of armchair contractors out their .

Re: Allegro

A friend returned recently and emailed me some pics. It appears as if the windows are being put in on all the units and that work is continuing on the hotel. I recently spoke to a friend who works at the Allegro and is now working on the construction. He said that as far as he sees and knows the hotel will open in December.

Re: Allegro

At the hospital I used to work at, they added a whole wing to the existing building. Two months before the "grand opening" the place was gutted and looked like NOTHING had been done. We never thought in a million years they would make their deadline but they did. We were told a lot of work gets done very quickly when things get down to the wire and that's exactly what happened!

Re: Allegro

Looked this morn at Occidental site and it says:

OPENING ON JANUARY 1, 2005 (SOFT OPENING)
GRAND OPENING JANUARY 15, 2005

I also looked at the restaurants/bars and it looks like they've added an Asian and Mexican restaurant and changed the Italian restaurant from Caruso's to L'Olio and have also added a Royal Club for AVC members therefore accomodations and a Royal Club restaurant. I hope to see some pics soon from someone who visits.

Re: Allegro

The Occidental web site now has a soft opening on Jan 1 and a grand opening on Jan 15. Looks like timelines are starting to slip.

Re: Allegro

Well folks, let me tell you that when I was there back in March, the person who sold my wife & I our unit advised us to go to another country, because their was no way with the amount of extensive renovations they are doing thier, that it would be open in time. I can surely understand that. Why or how they figure a December timetable is beyond me. We have to understand that this is an Island, where the raw goods a commodities are shipped in containers via cargo ships. With all the commodities the Island needs you can figure that there are huge amounts of containers that are shipped there and are all dependant on various conditions & sna-fu"s that can happen. Believe me, i'm as anxious as all of you who are Allegro timeshare people, to go back.

Re: Allegro

We went to Allegro last year for the week of Dec 31 and loved it. We booked three weeks ago for a 12 day stay starting Dec 18. My husband saw the comments here from Jen and was concerned. After making some calls Occidential confirmed hotel will not open until January now. Oh boy! We are waiting for the travel agency to give us another hotel option. Anyone have suggestions?
