Amsterdam vs Aruba Grand

Hi - going to Aruba in Nov. Have no preference as to high rise or low rise. Want a good beach, not extremely crowded. How far is Amsterdam from Playa Linda? We're in our mid 50's so don't need alot of hustle-bustle -- just relaxing on the beach and some sightseeing, and of course, eating. Also, maybe some snorkeling. Can't wait after reading all the wonderful reports!!!

vs Aruba Grand

We stay at Amsterdam Manor and are very pleased with the resort. Wife and I are in early 50's. We love the European vacationers that makes up the majority of the clientel. They have a different approach to vacationing. Low keyed by US standards. Try it and enjoy yourselves.

The beaches are wonderful and not crowded at all.

I recommend the Manchebo if you want peace and quiet and the best beach in Aruba. Very clean and very uncrowded. The hotel itself is nothing to write home about, but the beach makes up for it. You will never have a problem getting a palapa at any time during the day and you will really feel like you are the only one on the beach.

Re: Amsterdam vs Aruba Grand

Judy, We have stayed at both the Amsterdam Manor and the Aruba Grand many times over the years and love both for different reasons (both do have uncrowded beaches.)

If you want to avoid the "hustle-bustle" of Palm Beach then stay at Amsterdam Manor which is located on Eagle Beach. But if, for some reason, you need to be walkable to Playa Linda, then stay at the Aruba Grand (although you can still take an easy 5 minute taxi ride from Amsterdam Manor to Playa Linda.)

Please feel free to email me and I can give you details regarding both resorts.

Amsterdam Manor is comfortable, has a great beach with no crowds. But the sewerage farm is close by and it smells like a horse farm whenever the wind blows!
We stayed there for a week in May and it smelled every day.

Judy,

Just got back, stayed a week at the aruba grand. Loved it. Was not crowded, but november i believe is the start of the busy season, so that could change.

Re: Amsterdam vs Aruba Grand

We are in our 50's and LOVED the Grand last Sept. The beach is terrific and if its relaxing you want the Grand is grand. No problem with a hut at the beach ever and the location was the best. I'm sure you will not be disappointed. We like the quiet pace and peace and quite- not a lot of party people whooping it up. We met a lot of friendly people and had a very enjoyable time. We'd definately go back again.

Re: Amsterdam vs Aruba Grand

Both are good but if you want to be close to the Playa Linda, I would recommend the Aruba Grand. It is within the strip where the Playa Linda is located. Amsterdam Manor is also great but definately a further walk.
