Re: anyything and everything

If anyone anywhere can do exactly what they want on a vacation, alone, better said, by themselves,
not alone, then that is fabulous. Have a great time and just be a little wary of strangers in a foreign country. My daughter travelled to Africa alone for a major project and she couldn't have loved it more. Too each his own, or her own! All the Best!

I know the place you are talking about re: St Maarten & planes over head. Father in law had some timeshares there. We would have toddies and watch the planes from the balcony and then run to the door and watch the rest of the landing. I loved it! You could actually see all the little un-tanned faces looking out of the windows.

I guess you didn't appreciate it- no worries it doesn't happen in Aruba.

Re: anyything and everything

The Wyndham has a GREAT breakfast plan and also great dinner restaurants. We eat in am and need a small snack until dinner.
The beach is wonderful and it is affordable.

Alot of activities around. Also close HI , where more young people may be (Wyndham a nicer hotel)

Re: anyything and everything

We are debating between the Wyndham and the Holiday Inn. We are not big party-ers! Just want to relax, eat good food and enjoy the beach. Would you recommend one over the other? Thanks.

Re: anyything and everything

I have traveled alone several times too and it is great! There is a difference between being alone and being lonely. Traveling on your own can be exciting and adventurous. I've met lots of great people and had a blast! Have a great time Heather!

Charles

as it stands right now - Bucuti Beach Resort is giving me they absolute best deal for travelling on my own.
*keeps fingers and toes crossed*

might you know if i can purchase the meal deal there? i think i'll be booking through expedia.ca (yep, i'm canadian), and i can't find an option to include meals.

i'm really there for the hot weather and beach, and a few bevies. a choice of 13 restaurants to eat at, within walking distance, will be just fine.

thanks again!
Heather

one last question, since i see no spa info at the Bucuti, are they at least close by?

Re: anyything and everything

Staying at the Bucuti would great. The beachis large and quiet. You can see plans landing, but you don't hear them. Breakfast at Machebo is great...good amount of food, not expensive and you can read the paper.
There's a bagel stand up the street near the Subway. You could get some bagels and enjoy them on your terrace with coffee and the paper. The bus stop is just a short walk away...riding into town and meeting the locals is always nice, especially if you taking one of the buses that is actually a 10 person van. As for dinner you can get to most of the restaurants for a $7.00 cab ride one way.
Bucuti has a new spa in the Tara Suites building. It just opened last year. It was by appointment only.
If you stay at Bucuti, you can meet tons of people at the Beach front bar. Lunch is good and happy hour is great. We've always me some really nice people then. Lastly, if you are at Bucuti during the monthly beach clean up, participate in it. Again its a great opportunity to meet new people.
Have a fabulous time!!!
