A 41 year old visitor from a cruise ship lost his life today. I cannot verify the details, but I am sure someone will.

An ATV was struck by a pick-up truck around 9 AM near the Valero gas station on LG Smith just west of Oranjestad. Very, very sobering. Very sad.

good lord, I hate hearing about ATV accidents...especially having first hand knowledge of what can happen....

It appears it may have been a drunk driver. I saw a picture tonight on Traffic safety aruba. Two bottles of beer on front seat of the truck. This was first thing in the morning. We were trying to get into town this morning and the police had the road blocked by the circle at Wendys. It is very sad that a persons vacation ended so terribly.Condolences to his family he was only 41.

We were also in the traffic trying to get downtown. We heard that the one truck was trying to pass the other one and pulled out and hit the ATV head on.

Almost every morning when we walked from the Amsterdam Manor to the Costa Linda and back there were people drinking, most likely still from the night before, in the parking areas on Eagle Beach.
Also you see a lot of empty bottles there. Their preference seems to be Jack Daniels, and Rye Whiskey.

Almost got hit a couple of times when they leave.

So very sad! When will people learn not to drink and drive. That poor person was on vacation--bless him and his family.

A good friend of ours (local) doesn't even want to drive and go out at night anymore as he said the drinking and driving is terrible.

Very easy to fix, just start going to the places you know that people are drinking and get them as soon as they get into the car. Enough people getting charged with change the overall attitude. Right now people know they can get away with it.

That is the reason we always like to stay close to our hotel on NYE!
