The only discussions my wife and I have is what months are we going back. People ask the same question, why go back, I tell them that I'm going back to my second home. We love seeing everyone at the Radisson. I tell them about all the great things there. I got a friend hooked and will be meeting us down there in three and a half weeks. We'll visit other places, but will always go back to Aruba.

We feel fortunate that we get to have a great beach vacation in Aruba every year and try to go somewhere else as well. Last year we spent a week in Aruba in July and had a great time. We also went to Italy for 2 weeks in October and it was amazing. Until the money runs out (sorry kids), that's the way we plan to do it.

Just finished a week in Aruba and next month it's off to Vegas for a long weekend.

Strangely my husband and I like to travel to new places and rarely go to the same place twice. Our first trip to Aruba was for my 40th birthday back in 2007. We had so much fun I wanted to go back the next year and figured my husband would resist. Surprisingly he said sure let's go I love it there.

We have been back every year since. It is very comfortable for us. We enjoy knowing what to expect when we get there so we slip into carefree vacation mode much quicker than we would somewhere else. Also for me I feel cosmically aligned to the island. I am not sure that is the best way to describe it but it feels right in my core. I feel refreshed and generally in better health when I am there.

I also find that no matter who we meet there from locals to those from other parts of the world we all have some commonality and it is easy to strike up conversation and make new friends there. I am at the point where I would hate to pass up going to Aruba and go somewhere else and be disappointed.

I think we all agree that we have found a little bit of paradise and want to enjoy it as much as possible. I am quite sure there are islands out there that do this same thing for other folks and more power to them....I just happen to love Aruba to the point my husband worries I have some strange addiction....I DO AND I AM OKAY WITH IT !!!
Any way...my standard answer is......The people are wonderful, the weather is wonderful and I feel safe there doing everything. I am not afraid to walk into a local bar for fear I will be attacked....simple.

Wow, I already made a statement about how I feel about Aruba...but the cosmically aligned thing and the "feels right in my core" is dead on !!!!

My husband and I had never left the country before Aruba for our honeymoon in March 2011. In December of 2011 we took a group cruise (our first) and determined cruising is not for us. We had great company, but we kept comparing it to our Aruba trip...well we ended up taking a "make-up" vacation back to Aruba in Feb 2012. So within a year, we went twice and now I am planning our next trip - back to Aruba. We have contemplated trying other islands, like Barbados or Grand Cayman, but we know we love Aruba. It's the most relaxed I have ever been. The weather, the people, the food, the beaches - really we just love it all. My response to why we keep going back, especially since we have such limited travel experience, is this: We know we like it and we know we are going to get our money's worth out of our vacation. Plus there are so many restaurants and activities we still need to try! We will keep going back until the unlikely chance that we get bored and if that happens, then we will know its time to try somewhere else. Last year was rare that we were able to do so much in such a short time, that came from our wedding fund - this is off topic, but I love sharing - we were saving for a big wedding and on a whim ran off to Vegas - so we were able to use our wedding fund for vacations - and for us, it was the best decision we could have made.
Not sure when, but we will be back

Since 1980, and throughout the many changes, we still love going downtown in Oranjestad.

    Is this only a dream?

For a long time I've had this vision in my head. It involves a frequent Aruba visitor and his/her spouse. It could be me or any of us. After years of hemming and hawing, the couple finally break down and decide to skip Aruba for a year, and try somewhere like Venezuela, just for a change.

How long do you suppose it would take before our traveller, after finally being able to leave the bathroom, would be standing on the Venezuelan shore, staring out across the water towards Aruba and yelling at him/herself, "What an idiot!!".

Anyone else had that kind of dream.

    Glenn
