WOW Andrea J, your incident was even worse than mine. Actually, I would have been very annoyed, because we only take carry-ons as we like to rush into a taxi and save time getting straight to our hotel. Hopefully, those things only happen sparadically and will not occur again. For some reason, I think they randomly zero in on someone who may look suspicious in their minds. mseegs

That's the first time i've heard of anyone being approached .......Although on my most recent trip i did see dogs near the luggage return. Have been going for 20 years and have seen major changes at the airport. All for the good !! Went for 3 weeks in Oct. going back in Feb. for 2 more . Cant't wait !!!

In about 20 trips never had any unusual things happen(both ways) going through Security/Customs/Immigrations. Most of the times US Immigrations just slides our Passports through their PC reader and they just say thankyou. Guess being old they don't bother. Last trip noticed US Customs going through a group of young single guys baggage. Don't wear jewely and watches going through Security as that will set off the alarm. Also even across the counter medicine may set the alarm off. I had a couple of pills in my shirt pocket that set the alarm off once. I don't do that any more.

My husband got picked out and searched one trip. Hey, I am glad they did it, we got to get on the plane first, and I am happy they have that kind of security....

Long story short. Couple years ago the Guy in front of me was flagged for search. He put up such a stink I felt bad for the ticket girl. Now when it was my turn to her credit she smiled and I said "I will say it for you, JACKASS". Se was very professional, wouldn't agree or disagree. Then her head dropped and said we had been flagged. No problem I said I have time. She personally took our smallest bag (I may of left out the jerk had to take all his bags) and brought it over to security. She whispered something in the Gentleman's ear, thanked us and walked away.
They call the Jerk and the biggest man I have ever seen searches his bag and lets say he wasn't neat. They call us and the guy she whispered to searches ours, folds everything back up and closes it very quickly and off we go. I look back and there is the Jerk packing his own bag with everything on the table in shambles. Almost felt bad for him. That was the only time I was searched but I have no problem at all with it.

When we arrived Sept. 9, Aruba security was searching all luggage. We were on the late (11:00PM) flight & thought at first they were only searching locals. Wrong, it was everybody.
As for the original post, U.S. security will strike up conversations, possibly to see what reaction they might get.
