In Aruba, have you ever had such difficulties to cause you to check out?

    What makes you change resorts?
this above linked thread that Peg began, got me thinking.

Have any of you, while in Aruba, checked out of your resort as a result of some kind of difficulties or unpleasant situation there?

We never had that happen to us in Aruba, but many years ago at a very nice resort in St Pete Beach, we left after unresoved issues about a disgustingly smelly comforter on the bed and a broken elevator. It was rather ugly and i am glad that never in Aruba have we encountered such difficulties.

Never in Aruba, I've done so only once, here in the states. I started an off topic thread...

Hoping for a 30th anniversary trip to our favorite place.

Nope. All has been good in Aruba.

Have had to change rooms in a few U.S. cities I've traveled to but it wasn't because of cleanliness, etc. - it just wasn't the type of room I booked and they were very good about getting me into the correct room or upgrading.

Yes it happened to us. We booked a last minute trip and were staying at a "new" place on the cheap. We typically stayed at the Radisson at that point. We checked in and was given an "upgrade" to an oceanfront room. The room was SOOOO disgusting it should have been condemned. The bathroom had hair all over it, stains on the sheets and the corners of the room looked like they had never been cleaned. We walked to the Radisson to see if we could move, we left a message for our travel agent to advise her of the was the weekend so we did not hear back before we acted. The Radisson did not have availability to the following day so we slept in our clothes and checked out at 10am and walked to the Radisson. They had us checked in by 11am. We left without knowing if we would get our money back from the hotel we were at. After photos and long letter we received our money back for the 5 nights we did not stay at the hotel.

The hotel has cleaned up over the years so I won't throw them under the bus.

Amy, I agree with you regarding changing rooms in the US. And cleanliness is never the issue, usually it's just not the "right" room. I sometimes spend 3 or 4 weeks in one location and the room has to be the one I booked.
As far as Aruba, we've never checked out of a room due to issues, but there is a place we would never go back to.

Never a problem..... had a room change request at the Radisson once which was handled quickly and efficiently.... We also generally need an early check in which was only a problem at the Hyatt years ago and once at the Radisson..... but always checked in before 'check-in time'...!
