Aruba and the Netherlands (cannabis laws)

Since Aruba is part of the Netherlands, and even though the region is autonomous, I was wondering if they have similar policy towards cannabis?
I have been known to have a smoke from time to time, but don't want to be involved in anything seedy.

Pot is illegal in Aruba.

Cannabis is illegal in the Netherlands also, but is also non-punishable, so whats the deal with Aruba?

My understanding is it is punishable, as with other illegal drugs.

Penalties for possession, use, or trafficking in illegal drugs in Aruba are severe, and convicted offenders can expect long jail sentences and heavy fines.

grandson of a lacabana owner has been in the police station's jail for 48 hrs.
he came in on the princess cruise ship, came up to eagle beach and blatantly smoked his weed on the beach.
caught, arrested, detained and missed his ship sailing.
he got bagged with 3 ounces of pot in his beach bag.
(he is no kid he is 23)
per his grand parents they arranged for an attorney, but the attorney has yet to make arrangements for his release...............awwww.


the grandparents are disgusted and disturbed.

whether folks realize it and or accept it illegal drug use is PROHIBITED.

unsure if the rules are ok for medical marijuana.

Isn't there a jail or prison down around St Nicolas?

yup, there is a prison in san nicholas overlooking the ocean.

Yeah.....the same way Alcatraz overlooked San Francisco Bay. It is far fom being a resort.

There is also one in the middle of the island.

They do a lot of busts for people growing and possession of weed.
And they don't treat it with a 'slap on the wrist' as the story
about illustrates.

Nothing for medical weed here. You're lucky to get an asprin
from the doctors here. On the 'cautious' side of RXing here.

What's the difference between the two? Level of security? Length of stay? Male/Female?
