    we arrived on aug 11
every day mostly sunny and some scattered clouds.
every day except the past 2 have had comfortable tradewinds.
almost every night there is some rain.
(our table and chairs on patio are soaked every morning when i go out there to have my coffee)

try to not look at the forecasts
they all say partly cloudy and chance of rain/

I understand that Aruba had a tornado in the Noord area, damage to the church that we go to when on the island. I hope and pray that no one got hurt and most everything else really does not matter.

"Rainfall Outlook during the Remainder of 2011

Sea Surface Temperatures (SST) in the tropical Pacific Ocean have been and will probably continue to be near average values (ENSO Neutral conditions) until the end of 2011. In the tropical Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, the sea surface temperatures are still about half to one degree Celsius above average levels. Both of these conditions will lead to average or above rainfall for especially the ABC Islands throughout the remainder of 2011. Rainfall in the SSS Islands will be near average levels.

    Last updated: August 15, 2011."

Last year from the beginning of the year until August 31, there was approximately 42 inches of rain. Thus far this year, the island has seen only 22 inches of rain. So it is much much drier.

Yes, that is why it was so lush and green last Dec. as Aruba recieved more than normal rain during the months Sept-Dec. You can not base the weather on last years forcast which was very unusual but the more rain they get, the greener the island is. I am praying that for all the folks that are traveling during these months that the weather holds out and not rain like it did last year.

We are leaving on Sunday (9/11) and I will not look at the weather.

I made myself crazy last year- Looked at the 10 day forecast.
    Stated- Cloudy and rainy (30%)

Thanks to ArubaLisa who alleviated my fears- and when we arrived, the entire week was beautiful. Never saw a drop of rain.

So instead of making myself crazy- looking at weather forecast (which we have no control over anyways-
I will look forward to my week in aruba (come rain or shine)
