Warm Welcome for the Aruban Delegation at Olympic Village in London

“Sacrifice and hard work is what has brought each one of you to the Olympic Village today, you are the best of your country. Each athlete will experience moments of joy, sadness, and disappointment, but each of these moments will stay imprinted in your memory and remembered for the rest of your lives. Welcome to the Olympic Games of London 2012,” were the welcoming words of the Mayor of the Olympic Village Sir Charles Allen on Monday to, among others, the Aruban delegation. A spectacular colorful welcome ceremony was prepared for the delegations.
The Aruban delegation stood out in their beautiful red suits, beige trousers and unique hats. The delegation was accompanied by a representative of the Dutch Embassy in London, Mr. Westhof. After playing our national anthem, ‘Aruba Dushi Tera’ delegation head Mr. Bryan Lopes presented the Mayor, Sir Charles Allen with a gift.
Aruba is being represented at the Olympic Games in London by four athletes:
* Carl Henriquez: Weightlifting;
* Jemal Le Grand: Swimming (Men’s 100m freestyle);
* Daniella van den Berg: Swimming (Women’s 800m Freestyle);
* Jayme Mata: Judo.
After the ceremony the Aruban delegation took pictures with Mayor Charles Allen.
