OMG....I was thinking of all the things I would have to buy or get from maintenance too keep the place up to par..... Heck I still make sure the place is clean for the cleaning lady...lol...Can't help it....I wouldn't want them saying that my place was in shambles or I was a slob....so I always cleaned it before they came in... LOL... Hey Liz, More time for fun in the sun....

I hate to send bad news but here is an e-mail from our Aruba traveling buddies that got home Sunday.
I hate to write this email because it is so filled with negatives. Our second week (while perfect in weather and, yes, we did have a great time) was also very disruptive. We had only the continued limited service while we watched the staff bang on pots and pans and parade around the complex. I met up with Dale, from the Sales Staff (Ann and Bill you know her) and on Wednesday or Thursday she told me they were shutting off the water!!! I went back to the room to tell Gerry and kiddingly said, next will be he electricity. Not five minutes later the electricity went out. Thankfully, the Magistrate or whoever runs the Island stepped in and told the resort that he would stop them from shutting off the water and electricity for 48 hours. By Sunday, they were told that they had to come up with $400,000 to pay the employees (they supposedly owe $2 mil for water and lights) or the services would be shut off at 6 a.m. Monday morning. I met two girls from Canada who stay there for 3 weeks a year and in the conversation they told me about a woman and husband who actually own their condo at the resort. XXXX and XXXX are their names. I introduced myself to XXXX and she put me on a mailing list for a man who has taken it upon himself to try to set up an escrow account for everyone to deposit their maintenance fees so that the owner cannot get his hands on them. I am going to forward the emails I have caught up with to all of you so you can see what is transpiring. You can email the man and he will add you to the email distribution. And if you planned to use Intervale International to bank weeks - skip it. They have severed their relationship with Aruban Resort. As you can see, it was not a dull week!!! The casino was mostly closed but we did get there two nites and I am enclosing pics with our very favorite Casino cocktail waitress. She was sorry she missed you Bill and Ann. Bill, Gerry consoled her as you can see in the pic. Well, I hope I have spoiled your day. People still feel that these things happen in Aruba and then the government takes over and they get it straightened out. Supposedly, Marriott, Radisson and La Cabana are interested in the property. Let's hope.
