Aruban's Celebrate Holy Week.....camping!!

We saw them setting up today when we came back from brunch. I realized it was so they could get out of work/school on Thursday and not have to set up. Said to DH "just think what a wonderful memory it will be for the kids to have camped on the beach with their family and friends". Can't wait to hear the music!

I have heard that if they leave any mess when they pack up and leave they can not get a permit the next year.
They are responsible people.

when they leave, the places are spotless.
prior to our son graduating high school, we spent a few Easter weeks on island.
the arubans set up those campsites real quickly, have a good old time....party, eat, drink, dance, swim, and play.....when they pack up to go home it is amazing! the breakdown and clean up is done quickly and by late afternoon on Easter monday you'd never know there were hundreds of families camping!

Had some good music last night for dinner on the terrace - lasted pretty late and by the time I got back from my pool trot there were no cars so off to work!

What a nice tradition...I remember when we went one year and noticed the camp sites set up all over the place, we freaked out...But after we heard what was happening we thought how nice it was ! They deserve to enjoy their beautiful island...

That sounds like a nice tradition. Are we as visitors allowed to join in on that?or is that strictly an Arubian thing?

i have no idea if it is strictly an "aruban thing", i am sure you would not be kicked out, but this is "their family holiday time".

As far as I know..... to camp on the beaches you have to have a government permit so they can regulate how many per area and make sure they do clean up when they leave.
