    ATMS and vape

    Hi all.
I will be heading out on the 2nd of Oct this year on honeymoon from the UK. We are looking to carry dollars with us, but as a just incase will have a bank card.
Will ATM's charge for use and if so how much roughly??

My wife to be and I both vape. What are people's experience with customs and vape gear to and from the UK?

    Thanks in advance

    Welcome to the forum.

Most of the local ATM's will levy varying local fees for cash withdrawals. We have (in the past) been charged variously 1% , 5Afl ($3) and 7Afl ($5ish) depending on which local ATM you are using. These are just the local charges and are in ADDITION to the UK Bank and/or Visa/MasterCard charges.

When we are there we have found the cheapest way to withdraw cash is to use one of the UK Specialist Travel Credit Cards (i.e Halifax Clarity Card, Santander One Card) and use only the Banco di Caribe ATMs. For some reason Banco di Caribe levy no local charges for ATM withdrawals for our UK Credit Cards. This used to be the way with CMB (Carribbean Mercantile Bank) who now levy Afl7 ($5) for every withdrawal. The only issue with Banco di Caribe is that there are only few ATMs on the island. We use the one outside the Napa Auto centre at Shaba (5 min drive from Hotels).

It sounds counterproductive to use the Clarity Card of Santander One (as they are both credit cards) to withdraw cash but read the article below on the Moneysavingexpert Expert Site. With internet access you can repay the cash within a day or two of withdrawing the money and interest charges are usually less than 20p for a 500 withdrawal. Even paying the balance at the end of the month on a cash withdrawal is a cheaper option than using alternative cards or different ATMs.

Have a read here. It will explain all...

Also here's the webpage which shows all Banco di Caribe ATM locations on the island.

Sorry... Can't help with the Vaping query...

    Regards

    Mick

Can't help with the travel question but my husband enjoyed his visit to the Vapor Lounge in Renaissance Marketplace downtown. He bought 1 or 2 of the custom flavors and enjoyed talking to the guy behind the counter. He would recommend it as a place to check out.

Welcome to the forum.... I don't think you'll have any problem with vape gear in checked baggage and probably not with carry on.
