Many/most of the casinos are not owned by the hotel themselves. They lease out the rights to run the casino....and they negotiate certain rents and a percentage of the income....when income falls the rent does not... So casinos lose money like any other business when their expenses exceed their income. Long-time employees make a decent living in the casino, and you also need to staff all the games....and when the business slows down you need to cut your expenses or close shop... sadly good bye occidental casino.
My understanding is barcelo is looking to sever their relationship with the
present owner= somebody wants to be paid...
When it's resolved, they want new ownership..
That was the beginning of trouble, they did have plans with renovations.
But that's all they had. She grabbed and hauled,you know what..
When Wilfred Trimon left that really crushed them!
One less place I waste my money. Been donating there every year for the last 12 , hope they get their act together by March.
