Back from Aruba, great trip but......

Hello, I just got back from Aruba on sunday 11/7...Trip was great. Food was great, weather was great, service could of been a little better in some places, but whatever..

The only problem is that yesterday when checking my bank statements it seems that someone has stolen my Debit card information and went on a shopping spree in maryland, and Washington DC. (I live in Boston, and flew direct to and from Aruba)

The person who stole my information started buying things in Maryland on 11/6 when I was still in Aruba, which makes me think someone on the island stole this information. I am always very careful when using my cards, it seems someone either at the car rental agency, gas station, or one of the resteraunts stole my info.

I contacted the bank, and they are investigating the situation. This is horrible and really has caused me much stress. Please make sure your careful if you decide to use your debit or credit card while there. I know these things cold happen anywhere. I would love to know who stole my information.

Trip was great and had a blast, this just ruined my experiance a bit.

we had that happen when we were there in march. someone got our credit card number and they were charging some place in florida. we hadn't used our card in aruba much, except for the car rental....but couldn't prove anything. and the credit card company didn't charge our account.

I hate debit cards.... I wish the banks would only give them to you at request. I never ever use mine. ATM and credit cards only for me.

Sorry Johnny - hope you didnt lose too much. Glad you had a nice trip!

Bummer! I hope everything works out for you! I only bring cash and one credit card for emergencies when I'm in paradise.

jphnny, So sorry to hear of the trouble. That is an incredible pain in the rear !
Get a copy of your credit report and make sure they don't add additional items, apply for loans, etc. Put a quick stop on that card and file a police report also.
Glad your trip was good, and that you are safe, the rest is a drag. The bank can tell you where the transaction started from by the way and where the items were sent to. Happened to us a while ago, but not in aruba.
