    A banking question

I have a question for folks from the US since I do not live there.

I need to have a small amount of money transfered to me here in ARUBA. The person sending it went to Bank of America and was told the cost of a transfer was $45. This amazes me. The bank spends a fortune annualy not to be robbed, but thinks nothing of robbing its customers.

Do any of you have a suggestion for transferring a small amount from the US to ArubaBank??

    Thanks

I struggled with this question and couldn't come up with a better idea than Andrea's.

Wire fees are nothing new and that one is not so bad. Just be careful of the fees on the Aruba side. Talk about robbery, the banks in Aruba are specialists at separating you from your money which they will charge you to keep and hassle you when you want it.

I use paypal for my online business all the time. If you have an email account, that's all you need. the person sends it to your email. but as Andrea said, you would have to have a bank account so that once the money is transferred to you, you can then have it deposited into your bank account OR they can mail you a check, which will take a bit longer. but paypal is pretty quick on depositing it into your bank account. they say 3-4 business days but I usually have it within 2 days.

since you wouldn't have a business account, just a personal account, you wouldn't be charged anything. i know since mine is a business account, they charge me 2.9% of the transaction for anything deposited into my paypal. but not to the person with a personal account (difference being I have more transaction coming in)....hope this helps.

    Good idea, Andrea............
