Beach hopping recommendations?

Hello all! Wife and I just booked our first trip to Aruba. We like trying different vacations spots, so this year we chose Aruba. Will be there just after Valentine's Day for just shy of a week. As background, we have already been to most of Mexico, USVI, BVI, Anguilla, and St. Martin.

One thing we like to do is rent a car and discover remote beaches and other treasures these islands have to offer. Haven't decided on a car or a jeep, but we'll definitely get something. What are your recommendations on beaches that are "must sees?" Wife likes the calm shallow beaches where she can lounge in the water without too much wave action. We are not familar with the island at all, but will probably have it memorized before we go from all of the research we'll do. The hotel we will be based out of is the Manchebo (sounds like that beach is a good one (for starters)). Also understand tha Eagle Beach is popular from all the hotels located on it. Any other picturesque locations we might stop at? Just bought a decent DSLR camera for Christmas, so we might try some photography also. Let's just say, if we rent a car, we're going to use it!

Thanks for all of the reviews on this forum. We used it to book our room and make a list of restaurants we'd like to visit. Can't wait to get out of this -3F weather we have now.

Jay

manchebo's beach is EXCELLENT
eagle beach is wonderful
i have a hard time determining where eagle beach ends and druiff beach begins, manchebo beach is a combination of both eagle and druiff.

other beach must sees are over on the rough side and down near san nicholas.
welcome to the forum and enjoy.

I there a good place to stop for a day on Eagle Beach?

On Palm Beach, we stop for a daily stay at Moomba. Looking for a similar beach stop on Eagle that is not associated with a resort.

You, obviously, have come to the right site for information; not only on the beaches; but, if questions arise in your minds; all aspects of the Island.

Welcome to the Site.

Thanks for replying everyone. What are 3 beaches besides manchebo and eagle that we should see? Just getting to book a vehicle right now and can't wait to see what Aruba has to offer.

Basically, all large beaches are on the west coast. The prevailing winds make the other faces of the island quite rough.

Small coves are the exception. For example, Baby Beach on the south east corner of the island.

We always spend a day at Rogers Beach. Not very many people there because they do not like seeing the refinery in the distance.

Good info, thanks. Just got our car rented for the trip, so just about everything is taken care of. Almost booked a jeep, but broke down and got a car to save some money, so that may limit what beaches we try to get to. Offroading is my specialty though, so the car may get to experience places it probably has never been .

Do you think we need to book retaurant reservations already, or is that something we can do when we get there? Other than that, should be good to go!

By the way, I started a thread today that might interest you....

Eagle or Manchebo Beach for a Day - Where to Park, Get a Chair?

When are you going? Unless it is a very peak week (Easter/Passover comes to mind) you will have no problems making reservations when you get there, with few exceptions....either a restaurant like Madame Janette which is always busy, or some "sunset view" restaurants.

A car will be fine as long as you don't drive in the sand! Places to see California Lighthouse, Alto Vista Church, Gold Mine Ruins,Natural Bridge,Baby Beach 2' to 8' of water, nice and clam for it has a breakwater no waves, lots of fish, stay inside the breakwater as there is a strong current(you are on a island) after baby beach stop at Charlie's Bar in San Nicholas est. 1941 & Zeerovers, for a cold one at each, you can play a game of pool beach side at Zeerovers(local fisherman's hangout) Enjoy your trip & welcome to the forum! All done in a Day! Then beach and relax and enjoy!
