    Beach vendors

    Good morning all,
As reported in the weekly newsletter Vacations by Aruba, three beach vendors lost their licence due to some physical alterations. Apparently, one such fight happened around the Marriott complexes. I am not trying to be noisy but does anyone know which vendors are involved. I rent umbrellas from one or two of the vendors surrounding the Surf Club and I am hoping that this did not involve them.
I actually reached out to Angelo to see if he might be able to give me informaton but he didn't respond.

Any info would be helpful. Thanks

my understanding is they were given 3 strikes you are out policy.
i will look around to see which vendors were in the fight.
and i think the fighting between these no so "gentle"men is a common occurrence.

I for one am glad they are starting to crack down on the vendors. Some have so much crap on the beach you can't see the water (especially around the Marriott compound) or you have to walk out in the water just to get around it all. I'm not saying to shut them all down or anything like that, but better regulations and judicious application of them can only make for a better experience for tourists and vendors alike. Kudos to the new administration for being proactive and handling issues such as this.

i know it is congested (to say the least)

the permiting process should be extensive, and there should not be competing watersports companies within X amount of feet of each other.IMO they should be as far back as possible away from the water.

the powers that be have got to make and stick with beach regulations and make ALL of the policies crystal clear so that the beach goers (local and tourists) are served well by the conveniences as opposed to being subjected to nonsense.

I saw a video from a social network a couple weeks ago involing several vendors during a heated confrontation. It escalated to the point where one vendors wife used a beach chair as a weapon

    from Angelo's most recent newsletter
    Aftermath of New Beach Policy
A few weeks ago the minister of infrastructure announced a “3 strikes your out” to the beach policy and introduced new task force to enforce it.
Since then the task force patrolled the beach and controlled over a 30 water sports and chair vendors.
They closed down 3 water sport establishments.
One of the establishments that was removed is “Island Water Sport NV” owned by a local, existing since 1990’s.
They have three locations, in front of RIU, Marriott hotel and on Eagle Beach.
According to the owner, be sued the government for removing his establishments, because he has all the required permits.
Whether the watersport establishment will be allowed back on the beach will be decided in court.
