We enjoyed the show. It gave us a little taste of paradise to hold us over until our next trip. You could really tell that Marriott and Hyatt were sponsors, especially Marriott.

    actually i was somewhat unimpressed.

    this is all my opinion:
they made it seem like scuba was the be all and the end all.
they focused little on snorkeling adventures and shore snorkeling.
they focused a lot on shopping downtown and we all know how sad and very quiet the downtown is.
they focused little on casinos, although lots go to aruba for casino action.
they did not give much time to the beaches.
they did not give much time and scenery of arikok.
no real mention of the modern queen beatrix airport and that us customs is based there making travel easy.
did they talk of the native language "papiamento? the proximity of the island being almost outside the hurricane belt? tradewinds? low crime? the little unemployment? the good education system there?".............i stepped away for 5 minutes to take the dog out for her morning business and missed a little.

i think it could have been better if marriott/hyatt were not involved and just left it up to the ATA to give its direction.

I was able to get it on Velocity Channel on Comcast. I had set up the DVR for Discovery Channel, but deleted it after I found it on Velocity. In any case, got to see it. Although I enjoyed seeing Aruba I was a little disappointed it didn't mention the low-rise area much. You could tell it was sponsored by the Marriott and Hyatt which is fine I guess. I think someone watching it who had never been to Aruba would want to go there so it did a good job. Thanks ArubaMark for letting us know about this. I saved it on my DVR so I can have something to watch during the cold New England winters while I'm waiting to go again next March!

On a side-note, I was at a wedding yesterday and the bride and groom where heading to Aruba for a 10 day honeymoon at the Marriott. Can you say jealous!!

After watching it (both the Discovery and Velocity networks were the same), I understand why it was labeled as paid programming. I would expect to see this type of show on the Travel channel which has a lot of what I consider paid programming.

Verizon FIOS in New York (Long Island)
Channel: 576 - Sun Sports High Definition
Airtime: Mon, Oct 10 10:30 PM

Edit: I just attempted to set the DVR and while the program is listed in the Verizon online guide it does not show up on the DVR at that timeslot or channel.

I agree there was too much focus on Marriott/Hyatt, but it was a nice escape to see Aruba!

It was funny that the program guide on my TV listed the time slot as paid programming; however, the online newspaper TV listing identified the show as the Best of Aruba.

If I'm not mistaken, I thought I saw ATA mentioned in the credits at the end of the show. Did anyone else see that?

yes the ATA was a sponsor as well.
i saw listed on credits beginning and end.
i am guessing the marriott and hyatt were the financial sponsors.
to me it seemed like a marriott commercial.
i wish other hotels were shown.
but no sense of me whining, because it was still a good show to spread the word!
maybe the sequel will make me happier
