The Best Way to Handle the Crying Room??

Everyone who has been to Aruba has had to contend with the Crying Room at the end of every visit, be it the one right by the boarding tunnel upstairs where you see all the Happy Arrivals going by, or the one downstairs where you watch the arrivals from Curacao exit the shuttle bus and make their way up to the escalator.

I'm sure that some of us have found effective ways and means to deal with the Crying room. So my question is, how do you handle the crying room??

I've always found diving into a new book that I recently purchased at the hotel or at the newsstand always helps to keep my mind off the feelings of sadness associated with leaving my One True Happy Place.

i try to absolutely not to look at those joyful but smug faces of the people arriving.

i also try not to talk or communicate with anyone as i am not in a good frame of mind.

the crying room a horrific place to be.

I use the WiFi to wrap up my trip report. This let's me focus more on the trip than its ending. We usually eat something and look around the little kiosks at magnets for my desk at work.
We miss the slot machine rooms.
7 trips in and still finding things to love. Trip #8 coming November 2017!

At least with the slot machine rooms you had two rooms to cry in if you weren't lucky.

I avoid looking at THOSE people - the ones just starting their time on the island while mine is ending

I pace as well... then sit in the corner at the end of the terminal (usually the doors aren't open.) pouting like a child and wondering "why" did my vacation have to end??

It's been a few years since my last trip, but I always belly up to the bar and numb myself before getting on that dreaded plane home!

By the time we get to that point, I've mentally prepared myself to go home. I wave to the new arrivals, chat with friends on the same flight, eat lunch and relax.

I have more of a problem with getting on the plane. I dislike flying as it's cramped, confining and uncomfortable and I'm way to close to a lot of people I don't know. But that's true of the flight TO Arub too.

I am usually ready to come home at that point. Usually grab a last Amstel Bright or two at The Old Dutch Bar (our gate is usually right next door) and discuss the fun we had and what trips we're going on next. We sit at the bar until we hear Delta announce "Medallion members/first class boarding". Like to get out of the busy airport and settle in our seats right away with a book and a drink. The memories are always good ones and I like planning the next trips....I like to be positive and look forward to new adventures. What's the saying...."Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened".
