Beware the Canines

While I always enjoy my sojourns in Aruba, there is one issue that remains a problem, and that is animal control. Whatever your feelings on this matter, please be aware that not all the dogs are "barkers" but a few are "biters." Only this morning, I was out making some video, minding my own business, and a stray took a chomp on my calf. Kind of stalked up on me, which was mildly surprising. Usually, I ignore them and they'll go away.

At any rate, a word to the wise. And to my friends in Aruba, please consider ways to leash your pets, control your strays, and think about what can happen to the unwary when animals get a little wild.

All the best and be careful.

Hope it was not too serious; and, of course, that it heals well. "A word to the wise" is much appreciated, I am sure, by all the correspondents to this Forum.

Stray dogs(animals) should be treated the same as firearms. Always assume they are dangerous (loaded) untill you check.
Are there any rabies cases on Aruba?

Daniel:
I am sorry to hear that you were bitten by a poor dog but thankfully no rabies.
I have been bitten by a domesticated dog (not in Aruba) and spent 1 week in hospital because of it.
Please support ARF-Aruba to overcome the stray dog problem on the Island.
Welcome back!

We are staying at Divi Phoenix May 5-11 and Costa Linda May11-18. We stayed at Phoenix last year with a trade thru RCI and they offered us a cheap week this year if we would do the timeshare deal. One bedroom in the new part for $799 all taxes and fees incl. Could have done a studio for $200 less. We got the week at CL thru RCI trade. I was also looking for the Ren suites but cant get it thru RCI. I saw a week on Ebay for $750 but it was gone before I could consult with the boss.
I saw a lot of owner weeks for rent at La Cabana when I was looking and there are quite a few owner weeks available at CL and ABC.
Maybe we will be able to have dinner one night while we are there.
Good luck on your search.
