Question Bringing Liquor into Aruba

I've been to Aruba 3 times, but never brought in my own wine. Can you bring say ... a couple of bottles of wine into the country in your checked luggage or will they confiscate it at customs upon arrival? Thanks for any info you can share.

I have never tried to bring my own booze in my suitcase, but I have heard of people who do bring wine. I wouldn't think they would confiscate it, but I'll let someone else who has more experience answer that.

Yes you can. We usually buy at the duty free store in the airport on our way down if we have time. But you can pack it into your luggage also.

Yes you can but up to a certain amount. If it is more than 3 liters you'll have to pay duties and taxes on it. The amount will depend on the invoice value, alcohol content percentage and something else I don't remember. All in all, after paying it it wasn't worth the effort nor the money to bring it in myself.

who would know if you had more than 3 litres of wine coming into aruba?
if you think that aruba customs cares, i am sure that maybe they do but in all of my trips i have never seen anyone stopped at aruba customs (the guys and gals in the white shirts that wave you thru the opening after you picked up your checked luggage at arrival in aruba.)

Aren't the prices for liguor low if you go to the supermarket like Lings? or some other retailer outside of a hotel?

They really are much cheaper - we get all of our beer there, but I can't comment on the wine selection because I never looked.

Wink Wine

We visit Aruba often and we do bring wine with us. I never had anyone ask about the bottles or try to take the wine away. When I think of doing this it always brings my Mom to memory: Buy two extra long shoes, like size 15, wrap your wine in plastic and put in the shoe.
This is my Italian heritage....
