    Bubali Bird Sanctuary

    http://www.aruba.com/things-to-do/bubali-bird-sanctuary

i had a new member of the aruba.com community forum, message me asking of my experiences of the Bubali Bird Sanctuary.
with much embarrassment, i had little to say....which is so unlike me.
i answered the private message and i was able to give the location, tell the forum member it is free and that it is probably a nice place if you are a bird lover. i did admit that i had never been there

do any of you have experiences visiting the bird sanctuary?
my experiences with the place are non existent .

Wow, haven't been there; didn't know it existed. Apparently, they don't do much marketing.

However, they have a nice website: http://www.arubabirds.com/index.html, and I found out the name of the little yellow birds that visit us while we sit under our palapas each day, Bananaquit or Chibichibi. They loved sitting on the pool noodles we would slide through the supports on the underneath side of the top of the hut (helpful hint, that way they don't blow away). My DH even made a video of these pretty birds sitting with us, and he plays it every now and then to brighten my day. Well, really it depresses me that we're not there.

I don't know who owns the site, but click the link to "who we are". Very interesting. But, after reading that I'm not sure who is running the sanctuary.

Anddddd, thank you all for making me feel soooo young. LOL I had to google Tippi. The movie was made two years before I was born. But, yes, I've seen it.

We were just there on our last trip over NYE in Jan. 2015. You can drive back (dirt road across the street from the Windmill - we decided to go on the spur of the moment after we had breakfast at Diana's Pancakes Place) and park your car near the tower. We've seen birds at different times of the day but on this occasion, after climbing the tower, we could hear alot of birds but couldn't see any.

Photo of the view from the tower is in my trip report - photo #20

I always like your trip reports Amy, even when reading them a second or third or more time. Do you have any idea why the birds couldn't be seen?
