Yep, we've passed by there a few times over the last couple of weeks. It's been coming down a little bit at a time.

I think that having a beach there would be great for the cruise ship people rather than them coming to Eagle or Palm Beach. They can put up a few restaurants and bars. More beach time for them.

I was never at the property in it's heyday, and I really think the new venue will be wonderful, but somehow it makes me sad to see the bldgs come down...

i know how you feel jacki.
i hated to see this landmark close and then disintegrate before our eyes over the last 13+ years.
in its heyday, this place was a gem.
it set the bar high for other all inclusives to model.
they ran a wonderful culinary school for would be aruba chefs.

i hope that the new plan somehow makes mention/honor to the Bushiri.

Has any development of that kind been proposed or approved, or will it be strictly open beach?

First saw that place in 1974 during our honeymoon at Divi Divi and it was sad to see it fall into disrepair.

Wow, thought it would never happen. And yes, such a nice place in hits glory days, but now what an eye sore. That whole strip of shore area along that area can be refurbished and used.

My understanding of the property is that once Hard Rock decided not to build the govt decided to keep that area as an open beach area rather than build something.
Nice clean are to see the ocean, allow locals and cruisers a place to have sun and fun !!!
