car rental

We will be staying at the Hyatt next March. We were planning on renting a car for the week but wonder if there's a charge at the hotels to park. Also, is there parking in town when we go shopping? We'd like to drive around the island but are worried about parking issues. Thanks.

Re: car rental

Anton,

No worries, Hotel parking is free as is the beach parking at ANY beach, IT SIMPLY DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER!!!!

I don't think there are parking meters downtown either, refreshing huh?

Parking and associated expenses are no reason NOT to rent a vehicle on Aruba- I know that is a double negative but you get my point.

BEACH HOP it is the best! Start at the CA lighthouse end and work your way down, lots of BEAUTIFUL natural beaches with huts etc. take a cooler with snacks & drinks and SHARE W/ PEOPLE U MEET!!! It is a different experience than being "snooty" along the HI-Rise beaches, If you are not the gregarious, friendly to strangers, out going type, or otherwise uptight- disregard the above recommendation.

If you can live with basic kindergarden requirements to share and play nice with others, then by all means you are in for a real treat to meet and interact with some of the friendliest people in the world- take a camera and spend a few moments, afterwards you'll wish you had spend more time interacting.

Re: car rental

Anton, Its free parking on the island in whole but parking downtown in March is like trying to find a spot at the mall the week before Christmas!!!! What we do is go early in the AM before the shops open and have breakfast at the McDonalds next to the Crystal and park in the same lot. I also go in the last week of February first week of March aka the high season. Enjoy your trip!!
