Most places will not accept $50 or $100 bills. At the bank they do accept them. Most resorts accept them as well (not all). Credit/Debit cards are accepted almost everywhere. Id is required.
When you withdraw cash from an atm you can get withdraw our local currency, the Aruban Florin. This is accepted everywhere and in all denominations. |

Personally I always bring 100's and have never had any problem paying with 50's or 100's. Each morning I'll cash one 100 at the front desk (casino's are also another great place to break 100's) so that I have some small bill's and tip money. I also use some common sense and courtesy and don't (for example) pay for a 3 dollar ice cream with a 100
, but if you are buying an item for $40.00 and pay with a $50.00 bill it will be no problem.

I use $50.00 and $100.00's all of the time, but you are correct, common sense plays a key part of success! Most of the time I do not mind carrying Florin, so if you pay in American they almost always will cash the $100.00 anywhere if you take change in Florin.
