i am certainly not in the "know".
i am usually in the "don't wanna know"
we have seen a couple of celebs over the years...................tom cruise and penelope cruze (i think t cruise owned a house up near arashi). saw them at immigration upon arrival.

another time at the immigration lines oj simpson was immediately in front of us paul and kevin kept me in good order. i was like a caged animal. they both kept saying "stop it, keep your mouth shut, if you screw up this vacation ....." so i said nothing and did nothing like a good girl. his house is up at the golf course tiera del sol.

What I noted from Arubans is, even if they know that there are celebs living on the island, they tend to leave them alone and give them their space. That comfort they get here they won't get back home. I've also found out that Tom Cruise has a house here, Juan Gabriel, Celia Cruz who may rest in peace, O.J., John Travolta, etc all have houses here. That Hustler magazine guy I can't get his name now, is known to fly in in his private jet to gamble at the casinos.

I haven't seen one yet.

BTW, that is, everyone here on the island is a celebrity. At least we all feel that way by the way they treat us.

Hustler magazine guy is Larry Flynt. I know this because I live in Cincinnati (Hamilton County) where he was prosecuted in 1977, not because I read Hustler.

Everyone who visits Aruba is indeed a celebrity, and I have met quite a few of our visitors who inspire me, have given me the greatest tips on living on Aruba and life in general and have made a difference in many an Arubans' life.

I may have many forgotten some of your names, but not your heart and souls. One of my first interviews was with a gentleman many years ago who was 100 years old! Then there are the gracious lady who always lends the cancer funds a hand and the gentleman who donates chess boards for the visually challenged to the local foundation, and the couple who donated the first car seat for the Kiwanis awareness campaign, the family who stay at Divi and enjoy collecting trash during their stay and help keep our island healthy and Mr. and Mrs. Horngrad who established the Animal Shelter!

Also, I cannot forget naming all of you celebrities who return time and time again, despite wars, natural and manmade disasters and weather challenges.

Further, there is Lorraine DiPerri who has her heart and soul on Aruba; and Karen Lutzker who enjoys the island so much she decided to dedicate herself to helping visitors organize their perfect romantic wedding on Aruba.
Other "Celebrity" meetings I've had on Aruba and will never forget: Judge Joe Brown and his wife - he super charming, very unassuming, she is beautiful and friendly; and Desmond Tutu and his wife - both have wonderful souls!!! And, there are many more.

Bishop Desmond Tutu waved to us on the beach one year.

Unfortunately he doesn't have a house on Aruba. It would balance the OJ thing.
