Cell Phone

Hi,

I'm heading down in a few days 6/29. I wanted to know if anyone ever rented the cell phones in Aruba and if someone is calling from the US do they dial an international number or are the phones setup with US numbers? Trying to figure out if its a good deal unless you have to pay international rates on your home phone bill if the kids keep calling you on the vacation

calling Aruba requires an international #, and, as you may know, the international rates are way expensive.

I have rented from Aruba Fast Phones. They are very reliable. You can contact them on their website http://www.arubafastphones.com/ Weekly rate is $50. for the phone which includes 84 mins. Daily rate is $8. Calling the U.S. from Aruba you dial 001 then area code and number. Calling Aruba from the U.S. is 011 then 297 then the number. Fast Phones has a kioski outside the sliding doors from the luggage area where you would pickup the phone. If given enough time, they will email the cell phone # before you arrive in Aruba. If I remember correctly, rates calling the U.S. to a landline phone was 34 cents minutes. More to cell phones.

We have Bell South for our cell phone provider. We signed up for the international calling and all we were charged was $1.99 roaming fee for each connection.

We have rented from Fast Phones before but found that this was a cheaper way to go.
