    Cell phones

We have Verizon phones. Will they work on Aruba? Should we text rather than call?

I know we can get a local phone. Do we really need one? How much are they for a week?

call verizon and ask about the the plans for your USA cell phones...especially ask about rates, roaming, texting costs etc...
lots of folks find that it is more cost effective to rent a cell phone while on aruba instead of using their USA plan.
lots of folks use SKYPE on their laptops.
lots of repeat and frequent aruba travelers own an aruba cell phone (i have digicel).

for info re: phone rental try www.fastphonearuba.com

(the owner of the company is a member here username caribbean-tattler)

    1) Yes Verizon works in Aruba thru roaming.
    2) Both voice and text are expensive. Text is $0.50 each.
    3) If you must be reached or make calls outside your room rent a phone. If not pay Skype $3.95 for a month to make Unlimited calls to land lines and cell phones in USA.

If you decide to rent a cell phone please do"t use it on the beach. The rest of us are on vacation.
Aruba where the toughest question each day is "where to dine tonight".

LOL, believe me, I don't want anyone to find me on the beach either, but I have to ask to be thorough
