cell phones

My husband said he could bring his cell phone from Verizon with a international plan and it would work in Aruba. Has anyone used there cell phone from home(usa) with a international plan in Aruba? Let me know soon we leave in a week. Thanks
Sandy

Re: cell phones

Sandy, tell your husband that he can not use his Verizon with the Int'l plan in Aruba.
The only system which is available in Aruba is for AT&T and T-Mobile. The cost associated with that service is very high.
Came back from Aruba, 2 weeks ago, and used Aruba Fast Phone, check thir site. Phone was waiting for us at the airport and total charge for 1 weeks use and husband work schedule was under $70.

Re: cell phones

Sandy- I am from Maryland and have Verizon service. You first have to have a capable phone. Then the plan is outrageous for the small amount of time there. Have been to Aruba seven times in the past year and decided to rent. Wish I could do a commercial for them. Go to www.arubafastphones.com and ask for Charles. Good luck

Re: cell phones

Verizon does not work in Aruba, I know that for a fact as I had verizon and just paid $175.00 in a penalty to leave them. isnt it a shame all the wrong info we can get from employees at companies. I got very worng info from T Mobile right before I went to Aruba. Charles @aruba fast phones helped me out in Feb.

Re: cell phones

Cingular and AT&T work in Aruba if you have a tri-band phone... You have to ask Cingular to turn on your international calling for your account and make sure they know you're going to Aruba.

It's $1.99/minute incoming and outgoing calls.

If you really need a phone to use while you're on the island to call back to the States or to communicate with others on the island, your best bet is with Charles. Awhile back, he gave an estimate on a week's rental with 75 minutes at about $65 or so... but check with him for current rate information.
