cell phones.....SORRY!

Hi
Sorry for the repeat of this topic and request for up-to-date information.

I know it has been requested MANY times before- what about cell phone use in Aruba?

We have a well-known US cell service provider. Do I go to my provider and buy a card? I think it was called a SIM card?? Or do I buy one in Aruba?

Do I ask my provider to change my service for the month I am going so that I can make international calls for a more reasonable fee? Anyone know how expensive this is?

I think I heard you can rent cell phones in Aruba, too, but I also seem to recall that since you can keep/use the SIM card on other repeated international trips, this might be the way to go. Any thoughts?

THANKS for your help. We are leaving on Friday.... YIPPEE!

Re: cell phones.....SORRY!

Try Charles at the airport named
ArubaFastPhones.

Best on the island!

or, do yourself a big favor, leave cell phones home, break communication 100%.
No news is good news. Go enjoy Aruba and keep your mind and body exclusively there.
If you hear just one not-so-good thing from home, you'll be thinking about it while your on a caribbean vacation.
Guess theres many reasons why a cell phone is good but there are just as many why they are not so good, esp. on vacation.

I've seen lap tops with guys doing files and businees work in lobbies and on beaches.
They told me they need to do it while they are away from their work location.

Get the message? Prepare and Enjoy your time away! Happy Trails, RC

Whether or not you can use a SIM card in your phone depends on your provider.

Verizon, for example, has no SIM card compatibility.

Re: cell phones.....SORRY!

I have Cingular and it works just fine in Aruba. I have a Razor motarola. I didn't have to change anything. Check with your service and they can tell you if yours will work. Hope this helps.

Only Cingular and T-Mobile have service in Aruba. In addition to having one of these 2 providers, you must have a GSM phone with SIM card.

Re: cell phones.....SORRY!

Jon,
You are right. The RAZOR is one of the easier hones to handle when it comes to international travel. They are quad banded and this allows for practically any SIM to be installed. Just make sure your carrier has not blocked it.
be well
