Re: Charles - Rental Car?
Marc is correct for more than one reason.
One they have the vehicles and are companies that take care of their cars.
Two - they are good companies. This gives you a fall back position in the event that thins go wrong.
Let me give you an example of what we always do when travelling to the USA.
#1 - First thing I do is check for the larger companies and see what they offer in the way of guarantees and road service etc. I am travelling with my family and saving a few bucks a day to be stuck changing tires is not my idea of a good rental.
#2 - If a company offers free anything, I double check how this works out in the final anaylysis when comparing apples to apples. We went to Pidgeon Forge a couple of summers ago and could not pass up an offer that was $35 a day less espensive than the competition. It even gave us two free guided tours to see hillside properties, something we wanted to do anyway. When we got there, the car was waiting and we found out that the $35 would be taken off at the end of the rental if we completed and commmitted to the tours. Guess what - we got conned into sitting through 6 hours of timeshare presentations and since we did not want to get timeshare, we never got the credit. Similar to that, there were rental companies that offered free crafts and other items for seeing a timeshare. Next time we go there, I am renting from HERTZ and paying the few extra bucks to avoid this type of thing and going and soing what i want to do with my famiily. If they say you get someting for free, well - buyer beware.
Hope this helps you out and know that the companies Marc listed are all solid.
