if you are departing on a friday, saturday or sunday.. please follow the guidelines that the airport has laid out. plan on 3 hours!!!

folks lately have been telling us that the us customs area in aruba has been understaffed and lately has long lines....lines upward of an hour and a half in length.

Wife and granddaughter are coming back on thursday instead of friday to avoid lines. If you fly business on AA you avoid the first long line at checkin. Only 20 max people in that line. Seen a 150 in line at AA before with 2 morning flights leaving on weekend.

if passengers check in online it saves great aggravation and time.
if checked in online, all you have to do is drop your bags, get receipt and pick up a US CUSTOMS declaration form. the line might appear long even for the drop luggage line, but it moves along pretty quickly.

all of the hotels and resorts should have free airline check in computer/printer for your needs. just ask!

Personally I don't mind getting to the airport early and on our last two trips we departed Aruba on a Friday and encountered no issues, except like others, we were there before they opened the check-in counter by about 30 minutes. I'm hopeful that by May we'll know what issues to expect as the full brunt of the TSA hiring freeze and furloughs will be in effect.

It's not TSA in Aruba, its US Customs.
