    Christmas in Aruba

Well its official. We will be experiencing Christmas in Aruba this year! I canceled my solo trip in April that I booked on points staying at the Ritz and I am going to use those points for our week at the Marriott over Christmas. My son asked to celebrate his birthday in Aruba this past year and he will get his wish as he was born on Xmas eve. The Marriott is great for using points even over Xmas, the room is going for $7450 if we paid cash and we got it for $875 plus my points for a premium room, whatever that may be.

Flights are around $900 each and I don't know if I should book now or "hope" they come down a bit. We traveled over NYE a few years back but I have no idea what we paid then. Anyone go over Xmas time and what have you paid for flights?

i know that you do not like to book connecting flights, but really SWA boston to orlando to aruba should be much more reasonable than $900 p p

those flights are not released yet.

I will hold off. The 900 pp was connection with American Airlines I believe. My son is a bit older now and I am counting my pennies more today than I typically do so we will be flying connecting if it saves us a decent amount per person. Thanks.

Tough to change plans so close to a trip... but looks like you did the best thing for the family... and for you! Good job.

My wife was originally suppose to visit her cousin in North Carolina but that fell through so me taking my solo trip did not seem right to me. I came up with the idea today and she was psyched! (and so is my son) Getting all of his presents to Aruba for Christmas will be an undertaking but we will just pack a few carryons with all of his presents and he won't have a clue.

    hahahahahaha
maybe a large gift from santa (if it is too large to travel with) can be photo'd by santa and the photo put into his stocking...he will get it once he gets home.

many years ago, santa brought us a christmas cruise (1990), our son was 4 and we brought some wrapped ninja turtle soldiers and some lego gifts on the cruise. once we got home on new years eve we had christmas new years day. it all worked out well. our son still believed and had no clue that our christmas day that year was really new years day.

i am so glad for you jay. especially glad for your son and wife. this will be a wonderful trip. may become an annual event!
