Customs Question

My wife and I are on different flights and different airlines, each with our son and daughter. Theyre 15 and 17. Do we need notarized letters saying its ok to travel without the other parent out of the country????? AA says we dont, but ive heard otherwise.....

Re: Customs Question

You can travel outside of the US without both parents. I went to Italy with my sister and I was only 15. No problems....chris

Customs Question

Its usually up to the Airlines. If leaving from the same airport around the same time just both go to the ticket counters to give the OK if there is a problem. Usually any problems are with the "Ticket Agent" at the departing airport.

Re: Customs Question

My children often fly in seperate from us, and out on different flights, back to US. We had trouble doing this with Mexico, but not with Aruba. They each have passports, and so do we, but we had no trouble in Aruba, or at the Airport, customs, etc. They are both underage, and we go early, and leave later than they do, because they cant miss school, and we stay extra weeks, and they come and go on different flights. They are 16, and 17, and we have had no problems. We have been doing this for a couple of years now. Going to Mexico, with myself and one child, I had a nightmare. But, flying our kids alone to Aruba, and back, we have had no problems, and I sent no notes, I just booked the flights and they did it fine. We have traveled on Delta usually, but I believe we were on American Airlines one time? I hope this helps? M. ORing

Re: Customs Question

Jake,
We just did that in Jan. and no we didn't
need any paperwork...we flew US AIR though.
I had called about the same thing and they
told me that is mainly for Mexico. My
daughter is 14 and had no problems. I
think your kids are old enough that they
wouldn't even question it . Just make sure
your kids have passports or state issued
birth certificates...photo ID for the 17
year old would be helpful too, like a
drivers license. My daughter has a passport
and at 14 she doesn't need a photo ID for
the airlines. The notarized letters are more for friends kids or children that aren't yours traveling along with you.

Re: Customs Question

Our grand-daughter comes to visit with us alone while we are on the island all of the time and has never had a problem with any airline.
