Divi Dutch Village vs. La Cabana

I have booked grand suite 1 br from La Cabana. I have been reading many reports about La Cabana and I think it's not quite good choice after all. Can someone tell me what kind of resort is Divi Dutch Village? Vs. La Cabana? Should I change? Grand suites needs to be renovated?

Thanks,
Johanna

Re: Divi Dutch Village vs. La Cabana

Divi Dutch Village was recently renovated. It is located directly behind the Tamarijn Resort and is only steps from the beachfront which is very nice. It has three seperate pools which are very quiet and secluded.Nice grounds and 5 minutes to downtown shopping by bus or taxi. La Cabana is not on the beach . It is a huge complex of Timeshares with a huge pool but it is a hike to the Beach which is Eagle Beach. You have to walk across a busy road to get to the beach. A good 5 to 10 minute walk. This is not fun when you are carrying things or you forgot something back at the room. Eagle Beach is much busier with lots of jet ski rentals going on all day. It depends on what you like. If you like to stay primarily at the beach I would choose Divi Dutch because it's easier acess. La Cabana has a better pool area and more action.

Re: Divi Dutch Village vs. La Cabana

Johanna,

What time of year are you going?

LC isn't BAD. Stayed there. Get out off property, I mean for meals and you're going to want to go to town and probably tour around at least a little, right?

The pools and beach ARE nice. Happy hour IS fun. Whats not to like?

Divi is nice, whats the cost difference? I personally am not too particular -clean decent facilities thats fine. If I have saved a few bucks I like to spend on activities w/ the fam. For one trip the LC is ok but I hear you Aruba is very pricey an upgrade might be very sweet indeed.

Summer - it will be very quite even at the LC which IS nice. Peak season LC gets crowded and would avoid LC and go w/ a smaller low rise many nice ones to pick from.

Let me know how it works out. Time of year for your trip changes a lot of the variables.

Re: Divi Dutch Village vs. La Cabana

Thank you for your reply! I didn't know that there is a busy road between LC and the beach! Travel agency informed us that there is very small and quiet street...like pedestrian street...oh well..here in Finland we do not know so much about Aruba yet. They also sell LC as a hotel with luxus-suites....

We are going to Aruba 17.7-30.7. I think it's low season there? I don't know yet the cost difference between those two - agency is calculating at the moment.

Thank you for sharing your information! Really helps!

Re: Divi Dutch Village vs. La Cabana

The suites at LaCabana are nice. The Villas are in behind the Beach and Racquet Club. It is a 2-3 minute walk to the beach and the road you cross is NOT a busy road. You would enjoy LaCabana and the large suite with a kitchen. The complex is big and has 2 pools. There is a small store and a gym. I do not know the other place. You would not make a mistake staying at LaCabana. Contact me directly for more info. Sharon I want to visit Finland

Re: Divi Dutch Village vs. La Cabana

Sharon, thank you for your information. I already changed our booking to Divi dutch village. But we will check up La Cabana for sure. Maybe next time we will stay there

I think that visiting Finland would be totally different experience! Visit in beginning of the year if you like to experience our white and beautiful winter!
