Do you have the PASSPORT CARD?

    http://travel.state.gov/passport/ppt...card_3926.html

we have the regular passport and the passport card.

when we travel to a place that requires a passport we bring both.
once we get there, the passport goes into the room safe and the passport card stays in our wallets.
it is a good form of id.

we were on a cruise in december and in february and used the passport card then upon embarking.

    Do you have the card?

We have both passport and card. Like you, when we travel the passports go in the safe and we carry the cards. I also scanned our passports and emailed the PDF to myself. Not sure how much help it would be, but at least I could go onto my email and show that I had a passport.

I just renewed and I did NOT purchase a card.

IF we only cruised or at the least cruised more often, then I would think about it.

Our last cruise, out of 6 stops, the only place wanting I.D. before getting back into the port was St. Thomas.

We used to keep a photocopy of each of our passports in separate pieces of luggage.

NOW, dh carries a copy of each of our passports on his smart phone. The originals go into the safe.

In 20+ visits to Aruba I never carry I.D. anywhere. Dh only carries his wallet if he is renting a car. Maybe one day a trip?

A bunch of my friends just got the cards instead of full passports. We're doing a hockey tournament in Canada next month and this is the first time most of them have been up since the new regulations went into effect.
