Well, I guess that's why we're all here! :-) I just booked my 3 weeks for next year! Can't wait. I'm done exploring. Just want that one sure thing.

Hi Arubalisa, Well let me be the first one to confirm you are missing a lot by not allowing yourself to go and see Hawaii (first let me tell you that Aruba is my best destination ever) yes the flight is long but well worth it. I can't even begin to tell you how beautiful the Islands are and the culture and history they have there. It is well worth a 2 week. All the Islands have a lot to offer.
    Next Aruba trip in

Thanks angelone. Perhaps someday in the future I will be able to convince my dh to return to Hawaii. Thus far he is not budging!

Granted i havent been to Aruba or anywhere in the Carribbean as of yet (Countdown to May 2011!!!) i've been to Hawaii (Oahu, Maui, and Big Island) 3 times, I must admit apart from the fact it's only a 10 hour flight from Australia (As opposed to 24 hours flying to Aruba with transit in between) i LOVE hawaii! Maui and the Lahaina resort area is my favourite, Honolulu/Waikiki is also a nice city but it can be a little overtouristy for me. I've always felt it had a very relaxed and safe feel to it,

Another great island (And call me bias as i was born and raised on it) of course is Australia, Beautiful beaches, Friendly people, Safe and low crime rate and the option of big cities or relaxing on a resort beach in the middle of nowhere!

I look forward to Aruba though as it'll be great to compare islands and get a feel for another culture, Definitely a big world to explore and sadly life moves too fast thus meaning not enough time!!!!

Guess I have to chime in as well....

Agree about St Thomas....scares me to have to worry about holding on to your belongings so tight you can't enjoy yourself.
Grenada....went into water to get away from vendors...
St. John however was beautiful and I would go back there more so because 2 friends of mine have lived there for about 25 years and make sure we have a great time....
Guadalupe...nah, did not like it at all....
Hawaii.....beautiful...too far for us...Dh doesn't think its worth the time on a plane

Which of course brings us back to Aruba.....gotta love it...no weather problems to speak of, have no issues with the islanders, they are lovely people....great beaches, wonderful beer....Amy, just had my first taste of Bright on Bonaire, now I know why all of you guys rant and rave about it....I miss it already !!!!! Of course I do have to admit I love rum so that goes as part of my island adventures...and okay, I could go on for a long time....just consider it my other home !!!
    ARUBA....HOME AWAY FROM HOME

I have to agree with you about Hawaii. Aruba is GREAT and we come back basically every year, but Hawaii is such a beautiful lush group of islands with amazing beaches, great places to explore, and very friendly people. We've been to Oahu, Maui, and Kauai and they are all great but very different. It is a long flight-10 hours direct from Newark, so it really requires a 2 week trip to make it worth while. If you haven't gone, you should put it on your list of vacations for a special occasion.

Keep going to Aruba but try other places too.

    my 2 cents...

Aruba, there just is no other place on earth like it!!! The only thing I dislike about the island is leaving it.

We're trying to put together a trip to Oz in Jan or next Oct! First cousin and wife from Brisbane come here and stay with us every Spring for 2+ months,
and we've decided it's high time we got ourselves there! We've all gone to Aruba twice, and if you get to Aruba you will LOVE IT!!!!

My parents have owned a timeshare on Aruba for 25yrs and they never traded. The second week of Feb every year. My mom always said that having the time share forced them to take a vacation every year and she loved it.
