    Dutch Marines and their training

Some had mentioned recently about the Dutch Marines and folks wondering if something out of the ordinary was happening.
The answer is no. This is their usual training.
    It is fun to watch!

Here they are landing on Eagle Beach.

i am still smiling thinking about the reaction from the folks on the beach

i remember my reaction, (many years ago) when we were staying at the Tam and the firecrackers were lit along the main drag.
Holy cow we thought it was a "coup d'etat"

This training took place right outside our condo. It was fun to watch. They had "protesters" outside of MVC making a big commotion, then in came the guards. Via land, air and sea They were able to calm the 30 or so angry protesters and were able to safely escort the prime minister (or who ever he was playing) out of his room into a waiting car. The suspense was great
They notified us about a week ago that it would be happening. They also had the beach and parking lot closed off, so it was obvious something was going on. Even with us knowing there would be training etc...we were surprised by the protesters on land. For a min we thought maybe they were real, taking advantage of all the police and press around. Lots of locals came to watch, it was a big deal.
If I have any good pictures I'll load them.

Pretty cool stuff, my DH would be in heaven watching this exercise, especially if helicopters are involved.

Can't imagine wearing all the gears these guys have to wear for an exercise like this.... I'm good with flip flops, cargo shorts and a Hawiian shirt!

When we were there when it was the King bday and his visit they were also there.
We met a few sitting at the renn.. starbucks enjoying coffee and snacks.
They told us they were on training. Got pictures of them in the water . Will post later.
Been working extra hours this past week... going to Savannah in August for a few days with the kiddies...
Believe it or not that's where they want to go.
