duty free

I will be traveling 7-11/7-18. I was wondering if there is a way to purchase liquor in the duty free shop at the airport when I land and take it to the hotel? I've been there before, but can't remember if there is a way to get to the duty free shops after you land.

Re: duty free

There is a little stand when you get off the plane and go upstairs. But sometimes it is not open.

You might want to make your purchase at the Duty Free Shop at your departure airport. You will have to show them your boarding pass to confirm that you are leaving the country.

Re: duty free

Liz is right - we buy at the duty free shop at our departure airport and then if the kiosk is open at the airport we get more of what we like but that place is very unreliable as they have no set schedule.

Re: duty free

Here is something I learned last year. The extra charge for everything you buy after the allowed about of duty free is like $.50 or less. I forget the exact number, but it is not important. What is important is you don't pay this at the stores. There is paperwork and other stuff involved somewhere in customs that is not worth the money they collect. Last year I came back with 10 large bottles between my wife and I. We declared them and no one seemed to care. Someone correct me if the details are wrong, but this is what I was told when I asked a duty free shop employee when I asked him about what happens when you bring back more than 2 bottles.

Re: duty free

The duty free at the Aruba airport was less expensive than the shops in the Miami airport when we flew early May. (I'm only talking $3-5 here)
