It was a good experience. ABC doesn't have a lot of frills, which is fine by me. Just for perspective, this was my 7th trip to Aruba, so I wasn't necessarily looking to be in the middle of the action. I'm in my mid 40's, so for me the late nights out are few and far between. I went with one of my friends and her 2 sisters. Their parents have owned at ABC for many many years. That is how I ended up there - more as a tag-a-long (hey, I'll get there anyway I can). We were there the week of April school vacation so a lot of young children at the pool. The pool was most crowded in the mid to late afternoon. The beach - get there SUPER EARLY if you want to have a grass hut (which you will need for shade!). When I say early - one of the girls in our group would set her alarm for 5:30 a.m., take her towel and go sit on the beach. Believe it or not she was not the first on the beach. I'm not that ambitious when I'm on vacation - but if you want a decent beach spot - go early. The beach itself wasn't real crowded.

Happy Hour gets real crowded right at 4:00. My suggestion is to belly up to the bar around 3:45 and wait. Make nice with the bartenders - easy to do - everyone was super nice.

The Alhambra casino is directly across the street. This is where we mostly ended up at night. Not much other nightclub life right around there. For that, you can catch the bus either into town or out to the high rises.

FYI - the picture in my avatar was taken at sunset on the beach at ABC.

If you have any other questions, feel free.

Do you know how much drinks (beer or mixed drinks) were for happy hour and how much they were not on happy hour?

    Thanks again.

We are staying at the Aruba Beach club June 21-28th. I live in Knoxville, TN but we are driving to Charlotte and flying US from there. Our flight leaves at 11.

What is the policy with the duty free store? There will be 2 of us, but only one will be above 21. So how many bottles can I buy there? I know she will not be able to drink in the states, but once we get to Aruba she can drink.

How many bottles of liquor can you pack in your suitcase? I saw somewhere that this was legal, but I was not sure how many you could pack.

Can you bring liquor bottles in your suitcase and purchase liquor at the duty free store?

I still have not decided if I want to rent a car for the week or not. Is it easier to do this at the airport or at the resort? Also does anyone have any recommendations on good, but cheap rental places?

My fiance was wanting to know where is the best shopping? Certain malls?

What are some good, but relatively cheap places to eat? We are a young couple on a budget. I know we will probably eat at Matthew's a couple times, and we probably "go all out" one night, but any other places you recommend?

Finally, any recommendations on places to visit for a young couple in there 20s? I have seen the Tattoo party cruise, and the party bus. We will probably also stop by senor frogs, but besides that?

Again thanks for all your help. This forum has helped me out tremendously with planning our first trip to Aruba.

Que Pasa is also a great place to eat that is not as expensive as, say, Madam Janette's.

I Checked with this rental company and the minimum age is 23. I just turned 23 in April so I'm good! (Barely)

Are you leaving paperwork with your grandparents in case they have to make medical decisions for your child?

http://arubafastphones.com/ My niece rented a phone over Christmas. $50 for one week including 84 free minutes. You can pick the phone up right at the airport.
