    Duty free question

If I (1 person) purchased 2 bottles of liquor at duty free when I arrive in Aruba and I don't drink it..just pack it in my luggage, when I leave Aruba could I buy 2 more bottles at duty free?

    sure
but there is a chance that US CUSTOMS will charge you the tax/duty for the overage.
are you planning on buying me some Malibu Coconut rum?

Limit is 1 litre pp into Aruba..... 1 litre back to the states.... good question, though!

Of course, you can pay the duty on additional.... if you're caught!

3 years ago I purchased 2 bottles at the airport Duty Free in NY enroute to Aruba. When I arrived in Aruba, the customs agents stopped me as I was heading towards the exit door to catch a cab. They asked me if I had any duty free bottles and I said yes 2. They charged me $11 in taxes for a bottle of rum that I paid $10 for but cost $23 in their supermarket. I was upset but what are you gonna do..One time in new york I got stopped and i had 3 or 4 bottles over the limit and the custom agent was nice and just wrote $3 on a slip..However, I got away many times with multiple bottles..

1 liter duty free per adult (is the age 18 or 16) and the overage is approx $13.

Sometimes well worth it to pay the duty.

When Aruba customs officers see arriving tourists carry duty free bags, they often ask "so my dear what do you have ?"

Thanks so much you guys! I think if I do purchase more than I'm allowed, I'll pay the duty. It is still cheaper, and what I am buying, you can't get in the states, white Hennessy.
Andrea, since you are leaving before I get there, just leave me a piņa colada somewhere on the Island...don't worry I'll find it. LOL

White Hennessey is great! I had it in Bermuda. I will have to pick up a bottle when I arrive in Aruba. I really should be buying my liquor at their duty shop when I arrive. I'm traveling with my mom so I can buy 2 liters..

ace...the White Hennessy is still hard to get in Aruba, they run out. The last 2 visits we got the last 4 while leaving the island, so your best bet is to get it when you arrive if you can. Now this year it may be different and you'll have no problem. Enjoy it AND your trip!
