We have rented a 1 week stay (from a timeshare owner) at the Marriott Ocean Club. I was told that the Marriott charges a fee ($6.00- $14.00) for energy tax. Is this true???
>>> "Is this true???"
--- Can't say for sure but a lot of the timeshares in Aruba charge this tax and also the hotel occupancy tax when you stay. A few of the timeshares put the tax in the yearly maintenance fee. Others do not.
Just depends where staying how the taxes are paid. Even the people who come AI get hit with the Aruban Gov Occupancy Tax. Most of the time its included in the price they pay their travel agent or travel company.
I am not sure if you would call it an energy surcharge - it is a government tax imposed on the resorts and the prices go according to the type of room you are staying in. Anyone correct me if I am wrong but that is how I understand it.
Where I stay the studio would cost $5.25 per day - one bedroom unit cost $6.50 per day and so on...
